Corns are simply lumps of very compacted hard skin and can make it feel as if you are walking on a pebble. Corns usually occur where there is pressure from an underlying bony point or knuckle, e.g. under the ball of the foot or over a joint.  Soft corns can occur between the toes.  Treatment is usually straightforward.  The corn is gently cut out, and again padding or dressing can be applied to relieve pain and aid recovery.  However if the pressure that caused the corn continues, another corn may develop in the same place.
